Preparing your iPads for Events

Get market-ready

Written by Support

It’s that time of year again - when MIPCOM is just around the corner! To ensure everything runs smoothly on-site, it’s important to prepare your iPads in advance.

Follow these tips and tricks to avoid last-minute issues and deliver a seamless experience.

1. Update your app before you travel

Make sure you’re running the latest version of the app:

  • Open the App Store

  • Go to the Updates tab

  • Install any available updates

After updating, you may need to re-sync data and images (videos already downloaded will remain).
Always do this before arriving in Cannes to avoid delays.

2. Only include videos in your download lists

This is a big one!

If you add a programme to a list, all videos associated with that programme will download when using “Download all videos”.

Best practise:

  • Only add individual videos (ideally promos) to your lists

  • Avoid adding full programmes or series

Quick check:

  • Cards with a play icon = video

  • Cards without = programme/series (may contain multiple videos)

3. Check your lists are visible offline

There’s a toggle on the website that controls whether lists sync to the app.

Make sure:

  • Your key lists are enabled for app sync

  • They appear correctly in the offline app

This ensures everything you need is accessible during the event.

Take a look at our support article here for more information.

4. Turn off Auto-Lock

If your iPad locks during a sync, the sync will fail.

To prevent this:

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Tap Display & Brightness

  3. Select Auto-Lock

  4. Set it to Never

5. Using a QNAP? Get set up early

If you’re using a QNAP device, there are two setup options:

  • You prepare it yourself using files we provide

  • We prepare everything for you (chargeable)

Either way, contact us as early as possible to get started.

6. Manage automatic syncing

You now have control over automatic app syncing.

  • By default, the app syncs once per day

  • You can switch this off in the app settings

Some clients disable syncing during events to maintain stability.

7. Avoid iOS updates before the event

Apple typically releases new iOS updates in September, just before MIPCOM.

We strongly recommend not updating your iPads right before the event.

Why?

  • New updates may not be fully tested

  • This can lead to unexpected issues

Turn off automatic updates:

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Tap General

  3. Select Software Update

  4. Tap Automatic Updates

  5. Toggle off

Bonus tip - Check your storage

Before heading to the event:

  • Review available storage in the app settings

  • Remove unnecessary content

  • Ensure there’s enough space for downloads
