What is the Video Types feature?

Video Types allows you to categorise videos on your programme pages and give users an easy way to filter content by type.

For example, you might have:

  • Trailers

  • Full Episodes

  • Behind the Scenes

  • Promos

With Video Types enabled, users will see a dropdown filter on the programme page, helping them quickly find the content they’re most interested in.

How does it work?

Once the feature is enabled:

  1. You create Video Types in the CMS

  2. Assign those types to your videos

  3. A filter dropdown automatically appears on the programme page

This enhances navigation and improves the overall viewing experience.

Creating Video Types

  1. Go to ONE Admin > Programme Management > Video Types

  2. Click + New Video Type

  3. Enter a name (e.g. Trailer, Episode, Promo)

  4. Save your changes

Your new video type is now ready to use.

Assigning a Video Type to a video

  1. Navigate to ONE Admin > Programme Management > Videos

  2. Find the video you want to update

  3. Click Actions > Edit

  4. Scroll down to the Video Type field

  5. Select the appropriate type from your list

  6. Save your changes

How it appears on the programme page

Once video types are assigned, users will see a dropdown filter on the programme page.

This allows them to easily switch between different types of content, for example, viewing only trailers or only full episodes.

  • Keep types clear and simple
    Use familiar labels like Trailer, Episode, or Clip so users instantly understand them.

  • Don’t overcomplicate
    Too many video types can make filtering confusing, stick to what’s useful.

  • Assign types as you upload
    Make it part of your workflow to tag videos immediately to keep things organised.
