We’ve introduced a new permission control to give you more precise and secure management of access overrides for programmes and videos.
This update helps ensure that only specifically authorised users can grant full content access, reducing the risk of unintended or overly broad permissions.
What’s changed?
A new section has been added within Roles:
ONE Admin > Users > Roles > Users and Role Management
Within this section, you’ll now find a permission called:
Manage Permission Override
When added to a role, this permission allows users to control two key access settings at user level:
All programmes access
All videos access
These settings can be found in the User Edit form.
What does this permission allow?
Users with a role that includes Manage Permission Override can:
Grant or remove access to all programmes
Grant or remove access to all videos
Override individual restrictions on:
Programmes
Seasons
Episodes
Videos
This provides a powerful way to manage exceptional access requirements without changing broader role structures.
How it works in practise
If a user has a role with this permission enabled:
Go to ONE Admin > Users
Select a user and click Edit
You will see options for:
All Programmes Access (can access all programmes)
All Videos Access (can access all videos)
These can be enabled or disabled depending on the user’s requirements
Why this change matters
Previously, any user who could manage users in the CMS could also adjust these high-level access settings.
Now, access is more tightly controlled:
Only users with the correct role permission can override global access
Reduces risk of accidental full-content exposure
Improves governance over sensitive content access
Provides clearer separation between user management and permission overrides
Important to know
This permission is highly sensitive and should only be assigned to trusted roles
It directly impacts a user’s ability to bypass programme and video restrictions
Changes take effect immediately when saving user updates
The Manage Permission Override feature gives administrators finer control over who can grant full access to programmes and videos. It strengthens platform security by ensuring only designated roles can make high-level access changes.
