What’s new?
When a user finishes watching a programme video, recommended videos will appear to help them continue watching related content. These suggestions are designed to be relevant and personalised while respecting user permissions.
How Recommended Videos Are Selected
Recommended videos can be displayed in two ways:
Explicitly set in the CMS
Automatically determined based on the programme, series, or episode order
Automatic Recommendations
If no videos are explicitly set, the system will choose the next video based on the following logic:
Programme level
Shows the next video at the programme level (same language and version)
If there’s no next video, it will show the first video of the first series
Series level
Shows the next video in the same series (same language and version)
If there’s no next video, it will show the first video of the next series
Episode level
Shows the next video in the same episode (same language and version)
If there’s no next video, it will show the first video of the next episode
No videos left in the programme
Shows the programme-level video of a related programme
Related programmes are determined either:
Explicitly in the CMS, or
Using the related-programme logic defined in configuration
Important: Only videos the current user has permission to view will be recommended.
User Interaction
Clicking on a recommended video:
Opens the video in a modal
Starts playback automatically
Setting Related Videos in the CMS
To explicitly manage related videos:
Open the video form in the CMS.
Locate the “Related Videos” section.
Options available:
Default recommendations – the system will show 3 recommended videos automatically
Manual selection – choose up to 3 videos to display as recommendations
Disable recommendations – uncheck the option to prevent related videos from showing for that specific video
This gives you full control over what viewers see at the end of a video.
Why use this feature?
Keeps users engaged by suggesting relevant next videos
Highlights related content in an intuitive order
Provides flexibility to manually curate recommendations when needed
This ensures that every viewer has a smooth, continuous watching experience while respecting content permissions.
You can enable or disable this feature at any time from the Subscriptions page, provided you have the appropriate permissions.
