Searchable Custom Attributes

Unlock smarter search across your catalogue

Written by Support

Searchable Custom Attributes allow you to extend search functionality beyond standard fields - making it easier to find exactly what you need, faster.

What are searchable custom attributes?

Custom attributes are data fields specific to your catalogue - for example:

  • Rights information

  • Internal labels

  • Sales regions

By making these attributes searchable, you enable users to:

  • Perform global searches across these fields

  • Surface more relevant results

  • Navigate large catalogues more efficiently

  • This feature is configurable to match your unique data structure.

How it works

Searchable custom attributes are managed within the admin area.

To enable search on a custom attribute:

  1. Navigate to:
ONE Admin > Catalogue > Meta > Custom Attributes

  2. Choose one of the following:

    • Add a new custom attribute

    • Edit an existing attribute

  3. Click:
    Actions → Edit

  4. Tick the 'Searchable' checkbox

  5. Save your changes

What happens next?

Once enabled:

  • The attribute becomes part of the global search index

  • Users can search using values from that attribute

  • Results will include matches from both standard fields and custom data

No additional steps required for end users.

Best practises

  • Only mark relevant attributes as searchable

  • Avoid overloading search with too many fields

  • Use clear, consistent naming in your data

  • Work with your Account Manager to optimise setup

Important note

This feature must be configured by your Account Manager, so if you don’t see the option or need help structuring your data, get in touch.

Searchable Custom Attributes give you powerful control over how your catalogue is explored - making search more flexible, accurate, and tailored to your business needs.
